Badam milk powder recipe
A simple and healthy beverage recipe made with almond powder and milk powder. It is generally mixed with warm milk and served as beverage or welcome drink to guests. but the drink is very nutrient as it contains almond, kesar and milk powder mix, hence it can be shared with your kids or adults as a daily drink.
I have not peeled the skin of almonds before using it to make badam powder. while, if you prefer to have the appearance of mtr badam powder then blanch the badam before frying to get the white colour with the milk. The same powder can be used for both warm and cold drink too. you can make the milkshake by adding a scoop of vanilla ice cream. While making this drink i have not added any extra sugar for the sweetness. But you can add it according to your taste preference.
Ingredients:
Yeilds: 1 kg
• 1cup badam / almonds
• 5 pods cardamom
• 1 tsp kesar / saffron
• 1 cup milk powder
• 1/2 tsp turmeric
METHOD:
• Firstly, in a pan dry roast 1 cup badam on low flame.
• roast on low flame until the badam turns golden and crunchy.
• cool completely and transfer to the blender along with 5 pods cardamom and 1 tsp kesar.
• blend to a fine powder without adding water.
• transfer the almond powder to a large bowl.
• also add 1 cup milk powder, 1/2 tsp turmeric.
• mix well making sure everything is combined well. if you prefer, you can also add 1/2 cup powdered sugar at this stage.
• transfer the badam milk powder mix to an airtight container.
• To prepare badam milk:
• Take 1 cup(250ml) milk in a saucepan..get the milk to boil.
• In glass add 1 tbsp of homemade badam mix to milk and 1 tbsp jaggery powder, now add boiled milk. Stir well.
• Now serve hot badam milk.
